Live updates - West Sussex County Council 2021 election results
Going into the election, there are 50 Conservative councillors, eight Lib Dems four Labour, four independents, two independent Conservatives and two vacancies. Throughout today (Friday May 7) and tomorrow (Saturday) we will bring you all the results as they come in from across the county.

LABOUR GAIN - WORTHING WEST
Beccy Cooper, who started the breakthrough for Labour at Worthing Borough Council, has done the same for her party at county council level within Worthing. She takes Worthing West from Conservative Paul High

Conservatives now guaranteed a majority
The Conservatives now have a guaranteed majority with 39 seats already (out of a total of 70), even before the results for the five Adur seats and nine Worthing divisions are announced tomorrow.
2017’s high water mark of 56 seats is now out of the Tories’ reach, but they can still signficantly increase their majority tomorrow. Four years ago they won all of the Adur seats, and all but one of the Worthing contests.
Crawley results
That’s all nine Crawley county council results now in the bag. The Tories now hold the advantage across the town, with five seats compared to Labour’s four. That’s all the West Sussex County Council results for today (Friday). Adur and Worthing results due tomorrow (Saturday).

Bob Lanzer is also returned for another four year term at County Hall.
CONSERVATIVE HOLD - TILGATE & FURNACE GREEN
Duncan Crow, Conservative group leader at Crawley Borough Council and a cabinet member at County Hall, retains his WSCC seat
CONSERVATIVE GAIN - SOUTHGATE & GOSSOPS GREEN
Labour’s group leader Michael Jones loses his seat and Conservative Zaker Ali is elected for Southgate and Gossops Green.
It was one of the most marginal seats in the county and Mr Jones only won by 23 votes back in 2017.
CONSERVATIVE HOLD - POUND HILL
Conservative Richard Burrett is returned for another term at County Hall
LABOUR HOLD - NORTHGATE AND WEST GREEN
Northgate & West Green was a Labour seat until Karen Sudan resigned from the party to become an independent. She stood in this election as an indy, but Natalie Pudaloff has kept/returned the seat to Labour
