Application submitted to transform Crawley Railway Station

A planning application to transform the area around Crawley Railway Station has been submitted.

The development would see Overline House demolished and replaced with 308 new flats and a new integrated station building, a multi-storey car park, business hub and a retail unit.

The scheme includes public realm enhancements and landscaping in Station Way.

According to documents submitted to Crawley Borough Council, if approved the construction phase could take three years.

The scheme would see three new blocks of flats built with a ground floor link, and a new railway station integrated into one of the buildings.

A multi-storey car park providing 120 spaces for station use would be built at the eastern end of the site.

Overline House was constructed in 1968 and is currently owned by Rockspring Ltd and according to the applicantthe largely empty office building is ‘outdated and no longer suits modern office use’.

According to the scheme’s website:” The Arora Group is proposing a high-quality residential led scheme on the site of Overline House which includes Crawley Railway Station and two ground level car parks.
