Police support food bank bins

The Food Bank is a social project run by members of Churches Together in Bexhill in partnership with the Trussell Trust.

Collection bins for the charity have been put in place at all three of Rother’s police stations and officers are appealing for donations from members of the public to help the cause.

Sergeant Stuart Mullins, of Bexhill Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “I know I speak for the whole district when I say that we are very happy to be supporting this project.

“As part of our support we have agreed to have collection bins at Bexhill, Battle and Rye Police Stations.

“We are collecting any tinned food which is more than three months within it’s use by date.

“This is a very worthwhile cause run by volunteers and there are strict checks in place to ensure that the system is not abused.

“I’d like to urge Rother residents to help us fill our bins.

“Tinned meats and fish are especially needed but any tins will be greatly appreciated.

“Just drop in to the front office of any Rother police station.”

Donations can be made at Battle and Rye police stations, 10am-2pm weekdays.

Alternatively, pop in to Bexhill Police Station.

Bexhill will accept donations on weekdays, 10am-2pm and 3-6pm.

Bexhill Foodbank, based at The Methodist Church, Sackville Road, Bexhill-on-Sea, opens every Thursday, 10am-noon.
