At about 8.15pm on Monday, June 22, the 27-year man from Norwich and his Labrador Staffordshire cross were walking in fields adjacent to the White Horse Caravan Park in Paddock Lane, where he was on holiday with his partner, when they were attacked by two dogs described as a Staffy Cross and a “wiry haired” breed.

Police said two men thought to be the owners came up and eventually managed to get the two dogs away from the victim who by this stage was holding his own dog in his arms.

They said they were from Peckham and that ‘this happens weekly’. One is described as tall with short hair almost shaved.

They then walked off with the two dogs.

The victim sustained a serious injury to his bicep and several lacerations to his forearms and hands, and went to St Richards Hospital in Chichester where he was admitted for treatment and an overnight stay.

His dog had an injury to his ear which required stitches.

PC Matthew Snelson said; “Fortunately both are currently recovering, but this was a nasty incident in which the injuries could have been even worse.

“If you saw these men and two dogs in the area, or have any other useful information, please contact us via [email protected] or call us via 101, quoting serial 1499 of 22/06.”
