Police advice to two-wheeler owners after a spate of thefts in Bognor Regis

The thefts occurred in a small area just outside the town centre.

PCSO Michelle Davies, of Bognor police station, said: “We would like to re-assure the public we are following up inquiries with the victims and the public for any information leading to those responsible.”

She urged owners of two wheelers to take security seriously. “Anyone who owns this type of vehicle should ensure they have adequate security.

“They should lock their bike and set its alarm if it has one. They should also try to lock it to something secure if it is going to be left for a long time. The motorbike should also be marked with its vehicle identification number.”

Further online security advice can be sought from local police officers.

The most recent theft took place overnight last Wednesday-Thursday (March 14 and 15) when a Peugeot black motorbike was stolen from Gordon Avenue.

A Honda XR125 L6 was stolen from Chichester Road overnight the previous Sunday into Monday.

The same night also saw a CPI Hurricane moped, coloured blue, stolen from Hampshire Avenue. It was later found burnt out in South Way.

Previously, overnight on February 25-26, a 50cc Piaggio Typhoon was stolen from Chichester Road and was later found in nearby Sherwood Road.

Owners of camper vans have also suffered thefts. The front grille and headlights were taken from a caravanette parked in Gospond Road, Barnham, overnight on January 22.

A camper van in Hook Lane, Aldingbourne, had its front grille stolen between January 11 and 20.
