Poem of the weekThe Grief of War

REMEMBER those who died in war,

The hopes and dreams of those who fell;

And grieving ones they left behind,

Far more than I could ever tell.

Oh, heavy hearts that heard the news;

The dreaded news they always feared;

Of loved ones never to return,

Who died upon the battlefield.

Great God, we were not made for this-

To suffer pain, and grief and woe;

Our lives are brief enough for sure,

And war we need to overthrow.

Sompting.
