The Silver Linings Project by the Havens Community Hub, which runs from Saltdean to Seaford, was picked as one of the winning entrants of the Projects That Matter competition run by East Sussex County Council which offered match-funding opportunities through the Crowdfunder platform.

The project received a video message of praise and support from actor Christopher Biggins.

Havens Community Hub was established to meet a need and quickly adapted its services to the coronavirus crisis by supporting elderly and vulnerable members of the community with welfare calls, shopping, prescription deliveries and day-to-day problem solving.

It also formed a partnership with FareShare to redistribute hundreds of kilos of perishable produce to prevent it from entering landfill, supported local foodbank initiatives and has launched a mental health Happy Box project.

With a new office opening in Thompson Road, Denton, the Havens Community Hub will be able to provide a drop in for groups, charities and volunteers to use where they can access internet, refreshments and administrative support free of charge.
