Councillor Cartwright said: ”This has been a very difficult year for everyone but I am concerned it has been particularly lonely for many older people as well as those with health vulnerabilities who have been isolated since March.

“A regular friendly chat on the phone is a lifeline and something people can look forward to, so I wanted this year’s Mayor’s Christmas Appeal to support this vital service.”

Anyone who would like to make a donation can do so at the Just Giving page, or at the Town Council’s Help Point during opening hours.

All administration costs will be covered by the Town Council so 100 per cent of the donations will go to the charities.
