Angmering Beavers dig their way to victory

Beavers from the district took to the Littlehampton’s East Beach on Sunday (June 22) to take part in the annual sandcastle competition.

Arun District Council’s chairman councillor Dougal Maconachie and his wife councillor Mrs Jacqui helped to judge the creative entries.

Groups of six Beavers, aged between six and eight, were vying for the top spot in a range of categories, including best communication, team work, natural materials and most stylish castle.

The competition was as fierce as the scorching summer heat of the day.

However, this year’s victors were the 1st Rustington Beavers.

Runners-up were the 1st Angmering Beaver Scout Colony with third place going to the 1st Yapton and Ford Beaver group.

Mr Maconachie said he thoroughly enjoyed the day’. He added standards were extremely high and it was tough picking a winner.
