People urged to vote

Lewes District Council is urging people to vote in local government elections on Thursday.

There are 117 candidates for the district council elections vying for the 41 seats on the council as well as 229 more hoping to be elected to their town or parish.

Alan Batty, Lewes District Council deputy returning officer, said: 'We've made great efforts to make sure as many people as possible are registered to vote. It would be wonderful if all those people just take a moment to go and vote.'
