Pensioner suffers serious head injuries in Houghton crash
Two cars were travelling in the opposite direction on the B2139 at Houghton Hill, between the Whiteways roundabout and Houghton bridge, when they collided, at about 5pm.
Police, fire and ambulance crews all rushed to the scene.
The 80-year-old Warningcamp man was driving a blue Ford Fiesta.

Hide AdFirefighters from Arundel and Littlehampton, supported by the heavy rescue tender from Chichester, had to use hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof of the Fiesta and free the man. Fire crews were on site for more than an hour.
An emergency crew from the Sussex Air Ambulance also attended.
However, the injured man was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, in Brighton, by ambulance.
The 38-year-old woman from Burgess Hill who was driving the other car, a silver VW Polo, was treated at St Richards Hospital, Chichester, for slight injuries.

Hide AdPolice are now appealing for witnesses to what the force is describing as a ‘serious collision’.
Inspector Phil Nicholas of the Sussex Road Policing Unit said; “Anyone who saw what happened is asked to contact us via 101 or email [email protected] quoting Operation Barsham.”
