Pensioner left in the street after Hastings assault

An 80-year-old man was assaulted in Hastings town centre in broad daylight yesterday (Thursday, February 25).

Officers found the pensioner in the middle of Queens Road at around 1pm.

He was taken to hospital where it was confirmed he had a fractured hip.

A 64-year-old man from Hastings was arrested on suspicion of GBH without intent and bailed until April 22.

Detective Constable Julian Stokes said: “There were a number of people who came to the aid of the elderly man in the road.

“We would like to hear from them and anyone else who saw what happened in the moments leading up to the incident.”
