PCSO and village join forces for Christian

A POLICE Community Support Officer has joined forces with the village he patrols to help raise funds for a vital operation to help a disabled child realise his dream.

Popular Battle PCSO Demi Georghiou has been working with the village of Sedlescombe to hold a fete in the village on Saturday July 19 in support of Christian Fortunato.

Christian, a pupil at Sedlescombe CE Primary School, was born with cerebral palsy.

Christian is a very happy six-year-old boy, full of fun and energy, but his cerebral palsy affects his muscles and his ability to walk.

Christian’s dream is to be able to walk and the Sedlescombe fete will raise funds to help pay for Christian to undergo a medical operation to enable his dream to come true.

Max Fortunato, Christian’s father, says he is overwhelmed by the support the family has received.

He said: “I am so pleasantly surprised that the police and the local Sedlescombe PCSO were so keen to get involved with Christian - the amount of support we have received is out of this world.

“It is hard to express in words how touched we are that in today’s world people still care about each other.

“It is truly overwhelming that so many people have made Christian, and his dream to be able to walk, a primary focus.

“We can never thank PCSO Georghiou and the village enough.”

The fete will take place on the village green in the centre of Sedlescombe between 1-4.30pm.

All the village is expected to come together for an afternoon of fun and entertainment, with attractions on the day to include live music, jugglers, K9 dog training demonstration, fortune telling, a hog roast, maypole dancing, a ‘guess the weight’ Shire horse competition and more.

The event has been largely organised by Sedlescombe resident Ralph Dellow.

Sedlescombe Parish Councillor Jonathan Vinehall said: “It is very rewarding for the community to be able to come together with the police and the Sedlescombe School for such a great cause.”

PCSO Demi Georghiou said: “I am so glad that the village of Sedlescombe has been so supportive regarding Christian and I am so proud to be a part of this community.”
