Our easyJet council '“ no frills as cuts beckon

Arun's chief executive Ian Sumnall said the council had adopted a measured approach to the cuts, which he believed were unavoidable.

"Up to 60 highly-valued staff will be lost over the next three years. As a good employer we must do our best to support them and to find alternative employment for as many as we can, but we have to accept this is not likely to be possible for all.

"We will still strive to be a good council, providing the best services we can within the funding available."

On the key issue of tourism investment, he said he was optimistic of finding a solution and there was 'no reason' why the two affected tourist Information centres could not remain, but under new management and be operated with grant funding.
