Orbison's Worthing visit

WORTHING has played host to some great music acts over the years and few greater than Roy Orbison, pictured here surrounded by eager, young fans when he visited the town in the mid-1960s.

These photographs, taken by a Worthing Herald photographer, will be used in a documentary on the singer currently being produced with his family in Nashville, Tennessee, USA.

They show Orbison apparently in a suburban street as he signs what could be a concert programme for a young autograph-hunter.

Do you remember when Worthing welcomed The Big O? Were you there? If you can offer any kind of an insight into the story behind the picture, please ring Herald reporter Chris Taylor on 01903 282366.
