SOME years ago I received a photocopy of a gravestone inscription sent to me by a Mr N. Whiting.

It refers to the death of John Holliday in 1733, and suggests that it was found in the former tea gardens at Toddington.

It is obviously connected with a small, inscribed stone in the garden wall of the house, known as "Walden", on the opposite side of Toddington Lane.

I would be very grateful for any information concerning the history, or the present whereabouts of the gravestone, for inclusion in a minor revision of the book "Toddington '“ Its Past and its People", first published in 1987.
