Sincere thanks to hospital staff

MY wife and I felt that we must write to the Herald to express our sincere thanks to Worthing Hospital.

One reads so often of the poor service that the NHS provides but, my goodness, this is not the situation that we have experienced.

Sadly, my wife's dear mother Selina passed away in Worthing Hospital recently at the ripe old age of 97, following a fall at home four weeks ago.

She had experienced several falls at home in the last few months, resulting in visits to Worthing and Southlands Hospital, but her care by the ambulance paramedics attending, the Worthing A& E department and the professional care in Becket ward was wonderful.

She was finally moved to Botolphs ward, where the care was equally brilliant.

I know that a lot of money has been spent on the NHS these last few years and a lot of questions have been asked as to where has the money gone, but when I compare the poor standard of care that my mother received some 18 years ago, there is no comparison.

I have written to Worthing Hospital to express our sincere thanks to all those involved but felt it only fair that the wider public should be aware that their taxes are not entirely being wasted.
