Urban sprawl gone too far

WHEN is enough, enough? Over the last 30 years all the residents of this area have seen developers turn beautiful areas bordering our town into sprawling estates.

Remember the promises when Beaumont Park was proposed and agreed – new school, new doctors, shops, and a community hall? It's taken all of those 30 years to get some of that done

What did we lose? The Wapple and all its wildlife, and all the fields that spread from the seafront to the Old Worthing Road.

Were they content? No, they then developed north Beaumont. Glass house crops went, and development spread along the Old Worthing Road.

Near the tip they built even more houses. Old lovely Toddington has all but disappeared with new houses.

Eden Park and more are the latest developments to our town.

How many thousands of houses does this add up to over 30 years?

But I ask the questions where have all these people come from and what infrastructure is in place to support them.

Take a minute to think how long does it take to drive through Wick towards Crossbush in a morning?

Have you tried to drive towards Worthing in a morning/evening?

Traffic gridlock is what there is. Queues everywhere you go.

And now they want to develop the land off the new road at Wick between Courtwick lane and the Tesco roundabout. Another large housing estate on what is a beautiful green flat flood plain.

I live on the farm that they want to develop alongside, my animals graze the land, all of this to go under the developer's digger.

What happens when the Arun floods? Where will the water go?

How many people moved here to live the fairly rural lifestyle that the area promised only over the years to be replaced by a concrete jungle with all its associated problems?

I for one did not. I am passionate about this area and intend to fight the developers at every turn.

Come on, Littlehampton, Wick, Lyminster and everyone in the area that thinks the same as me: no more development. We are saturated and we can not take any more.
