Responsible citizen

WITH reference to the letter “Enough is Enough” (Gazette, February 3), may I reply?

The “old man” the writer refers to in the letter has four large dogs which are all rescue dogs.

This, I think, shows his commitment to dog welfare.

These dogs are friendly and play with other dogs and are not aggressive.

Has the correspondent noticed that the man carried a large plastic bag and a litter-picking stick?

He spends his time when walking the dogs picking up litter and other dog owners’ dog mess.

This person, I would say, was a responsible and caring citizen.

He takes my dog for a walk while my husband is in hospital, without asking for payment, and I am confident that my dog is safe.

I agree with the comments about dogs fouling pavements and other areas and we need, as responsible dog owners, to name and shame. We need to support the dog warden and report any dog owner whose dog fouls the pathways.

Those irresponsible dog owners should be heavily fined and named in this paper. We all must work together to get rid of the problem.
