MP supports Sussex Cyder launch

Mr Herbert met two of the brewery’s owners, Neil and Samantha Walker, to help promote the cyder which is produced in Sussex from Sussex grown apples picked from a single harvest.

The brewery spent over a year sourcing the best grower and producer, and have used varieties of apples such as Harry Masters Jersey, Dabinett, and Kingston.

The brewery explained that the reason their cyder is spelt with a ‘y’ is because the brew is made from a single pressing of vintage fruit. This differentiates it from the longer cider drinks available.

Based in Ford, the Arundel Brewery was established in 1992 and taken over by the Walker family at the beginning of 2013. The new owners have grown the business with increased production and new products, and are now selling into leading supermarkets.

Samantha Walker, Marketing Director and co-owner of Arundel Brewery, said: “We were so pleased that Nick was able to take the time out from his hectic schedule to help us launch Sussex Cyder.

“We are thrilled with our latest product launch, which follows on closely from our Viennese Lager, Sussex Bier. The last 18 months have been an exciting time for us, as a family concern with strong local roots, we are delighted that the business is going from strength to strength.”

Nick Herbert said: “I was delighted to support Arundel Brewery and to help launch their Sussex Cyder. It is great the brewery now has a shop in Arundel, and I hope that they will continue to expand their production.”
