It is a most excellent bookshop in every way ~ range of stock, attractive layout and friendly, helpful staff.

Accusations that being part of Waterstones deprives some hypothetical independent local bookshop of a living are completely unfounded.
After Martello Boookshop closed, having sadly failed to find a buyer, Rye was bereft of a seller of new books for well over a year, before Waterstones stepped in ~ to the delight of everyone we’ve spoken to. Long may it thrive.
