Community fun run

THIS is the third consecutive occasion that I have organised a Sport Relief Mile event in Littlehampton and my aims and objectives are simple.

First and foremost this is a fun run for the entire community, which sometimes gets lost in translation within media advertising.

While many celebrities and athletes have done remarkably hard-core things on behalf of Sport Relief, I tend to worry that such achievements may put people off the idea of attempting the Sport Relief Mile event, which for the majority is a jolly.

In simple terms, the Littlehampton Mile, on Sunday, March 25 is a fun run/walk/stroll and I would like to invite every single one of you to participate in the proceedings.

It is not a race and we have a wonderfully open flat riverside and Promenade mile circuit, which can accommodate buggies, prams, wheelchairs and the like.

Our circuit enables us to cater for all all ages from one to 100 and you are literally able to take as long as you like to enjoy the mile.

Last time around, in 2010, a 91-year-old gentleman strolled around in under 30 minutes.

This event caters for everyone, so please come along on the day and enjoy a bit of fun and silliness and please do not feel self-conscious on fitness or mobility grounds.

I want to see everybody having fun while raising money for a good cause.Come on, Littlehampton, 2011 was an awful year for the majority, let’s put that aside and have some fun for a few hours!

Sincerest thanks, as ever, to the Littlehampton Gazette for its input and support.
