Bring limit down to save lives

ENOUGH is enough! We have had far too many fatal and serious accidents on the A27 where it goes from dual carriageway into single lane on the approach to Arundel from Chichester.

Amazingly this stretch of road remains unrestricted up to 60 miles per hour until halfway down Hospital Hill, opposite the Arundel Hospital, which is far too late!

We need a speed restriction now, please, down to 40 miles per hour, for this stretch of road, to help avoid any more tragedies such as happened two weeks ago when a 21-year-old motorist died from a head-on collision.

There was a similar situation at Swandean, Worthing, on the A27 near the Coach and Horses public house, and speed restrictions there have helped to solve the problems.

I have contacted West Sussex County Council highways to take the necessary steps to erect 40 miles per hour signs at the end of the dual carriageway section and urge other residents of Arundel to do the same.
