Block paving was the idea

HANK you for publishing my letter regarding the proposed World's Longest Bench (Gazette, August 6).

However, I was somewhat baffled by the strange "Paint prom please" heading you gave it.

I would just like to make it quite clear that nowhere in my letter did I suggest such an idiotic idea as painting the promenade.

A good example of what I was, in fact, proposing is the type of attractive coloured block paving on the walkway adjacent to the award-winning East Bank flats.

Can anyone imagine how awful this would have looked paved in black Tarmac?
