Birkdale Hallbuilt as chapel

IN response to '˜The Maverick' Minter's request for the history of Birkdale Hall (Observer, June 17) I am pleased to inform him that, to the best of my knowledge, it was originally built in the 1920s as a chapel to a private school in Collington Rise. When the school closed, the chapel was taken over by a religious sect until numbers diminished. In 1990 the chapel was sold and converted into a children's day nursery and has remained so ever since.
