LETTER: Glad mosaic is on show this year

I would like to draw your readers' attention to the 1066 mosaic on display in St. Marys in the Castle until the end of October.

My son and I first saw this amazing creation at Geraldine in New Zealand in 2003. It is an accurate copy of the Bayeux Tapestry on millions of small metal squares, and took over 20 years to make.

I am so glad that its creator, Michael Linton, has managed to get it over here for the 950 year celebration of the Battle of Hastings.

I bought a copy of Michael’s CD which gives great detail of the work, and gave a copy to the Hastings Museum.

I understand that the Hastings Embroidery is to be exhibited at St. Clements soon. I arranged for an extra panel to be added to it several years ago, with photos of the Hastings Embroidery of Port Macquarie in Australia. It is very appropriate that it too can be seen this year.
