DEBATE: State of Worthing makes us want to leave

HAVING enjoyed living in Worthing since 1971, I should now love to move away.

I dread opening the Worthing Herald every week, only to read endless reports of innocent people being assaulted and mugged, knifed, having their heads kicked in on the streets, tyres being slashed, vans broken into and tools stolen, house burglary, general vandalism, etc, week in and week out.

I am weary of all the litter, broken glass and empty beer cans on the pavements, (which is particularly bad around the Jacobs Ladder area).

I dislike having to avoid stepping in the mess after lads spit in front of my house.

I detest the loud swearing and foul language that I have to listen to sometimes when out and about in the town centre.

I am sick of being woken up by drunks shouting in the street as they stagger home after midnight.

I am fed up with the legalised vandalism of endless garden grabbing and infilling of beautiful back gardens with ghastly flats.

And now, oh joy, the underbelly of Worthing have turned their attention to trashing allotments.

It's obvious our police are struggling to cope with the amount of crime we now have in Worthing, but in a civilised society, we should not have it in the first place.

I have my views on what needs to be done to end it all, but should love to see what other readers think, and who they hold responsible.
