ONCE, TWICE THREE TIMES CHAMPS

SUSSEX has clinched a third cricket championship in five years in another tremendous performance.

There was a tense finale on Saturday after Sussex dismissed Worcester by lunchtime, but had to wait until all other results were in to be certain they had won the coveted title.

Fans paid tribute to Sussex's all-conquering cricket heroes with an open top bus tour fit for champions.

Shortly after 6pm there was a deafening roar at the County Ground in Hove as news came through that Lancashire had been short in chasing runs at Surrey and Sussex had the title for the third time.

This sparked celebrations at the County Ground, which continued into the night at the nearby pub, with fans celebrating throughout the evening.
