New poster highlights purse-snatch warning
POLICE and the Safer Rother Partnership are distributing copies of a specially-produced warning poster in an effort to stem the number of purse and bag snatches locally.
News of the venture follows repeated appeals via the Observer for shoppers to take greater care.
In the latest of the current spate of pre-Christmas thefts, a thief got away with 50 in a purse snatch in Devonshire Road on Saturday.
The poster warns:
*Don't leave handbags/mobiles unattended
*Don't carry large amounts of cash
*Carry your purse/wallet and mobile separately from your bag
*Keep your bag securely fastened at all times
The poster is illustrated with a hand slipping a purse from an open handbag.
