New community hub for Slindon

A community hub is being created in Slindon to benefit villagers.

The asset to the residents is being formed in the Old Forge which is owned by the National Trust.

The hub will include a shop and a cafe to fulfil the aim of having a 'one stop shop' with a range of information and services suitable for its area.

Community group SlindonLife is leading the development.

It has carried out a survey around the village to find out the wishes of residents and the services they would use in a hub.

Its outline design and layout is being agreed with the National Trust by bodies such as Arun District Council and West Sussex County Council.

The concept of a community hub comes from the Action in Rural Sussex rural access to services programme.

That group supports each community to develop its hub.
