Mother's Day picture winners

LUCKY mums were presented with flowers and a framed picture last Friday thanks to the efforts of their children.

Pupils from all of Bexhill's primary schools were invited to take part in the competition organised by Carroll's florists, on Ninfield Road, to draw a picture of their mum.

Town Mayor Cllr Paul Lendon agreed to judge the event and had a hard time picking out the four winners from the hundreds of entries.

He said: "I found I had a little bit more than I bargained for - something like 400 entries!

"Bexhill pupils must really care for their mothers and the quality of drawings made picking a winner difficult - it was a fantastic effort.

"We have got to thank Carroll's for such a fantastic initiative."

"I think the mayor was surprised by just how many we had," said Sherie Carroll. "It was good for us that we didn't have to make the choice or we would have ended up with 400 winners!

"It is nice to do something for the children and we hope to do something next year because this has gone so well."
