More street dance in Worthing

STREET dance in Worthing has proved so popular that more classes are being offered for the autumn.

A beginners and intermediate course is being held on Thursday, October 4, at the Glyn Owen Youth Centre in South Farm Road.

The beginners session starts at 4.30pm for girls in school year seven, eight and nine and the intermediate one at 5.30pm for girls in year 10 and 11. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Annabelle Trent, community development officer from Worthing Council, said: "Street Dance is an ideal way for young girls to take part in a popular form of dance in a fun environment. It also increases their wellbeing, improving their health and fitness. They will be able to plan routines themselves which will help them develop their creative side and will also have other opportunities to perform if they wish."

Girls who have already taken part in the council led initiative have gone on to represent Worthing in the West Sussex Youth Games in 2006 and the Big Culture Show in Haywards Heath this summer.
