It happened shortly after 3pm on Monday (June 29) near Prinsted Lane. The girl was not touched or harmed in any way and she did not know the suspects, police said.

The lorry was quickly traced to Havant in Hampshire and a 52-year-old man and a 26-year-old man, both from Middlesex, were arrested on suspicion of attempted abduction.

Both men have been bailed until July 12.

Detective Inspector David Springett said: “This is a very rare offence and we are not looking for anyone else connected with this matter. I would like to appeal for any witnesses who may have been in the Prinsted Lane area at the time or who may have been approached by the two men prior to this incident.”
