Married in New York

LORRAINE Buer, a daughter of Donald Denyer, of Eastbourne, and the late Audrey Percy Denyer, was married on Christmas Eve to Charles Thanhauser, the son of the late Joseph and Marion Thanhauser, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Judge Richard Braun, of the New York State Supreme Court, performed the ceremony at the bridegroom's Chelsea residence. The bridegroom's twin sons served as their father's best men.

The ceremony was followed on December 30 by a nuptial blessing ceremony at St Michael and All Angels Church, Little Horsted, performed by the Rev Christopher Howarth.

Mrs Thanhauser, 48, works as a senior project manager for a furniture group. She left school in Lewes and attended the University of California, Los Angeles, and New York University. Her father is a retired builder and developer and former owner of The White Lodge Hotel in Alfriston.

Mr Thanhauser, 50, is a principal and founder of Thanhauser Esterson Kapell Architects, a Manhattan-based architectural firm whose work has been shown in the Museum of Modern Art as well as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona. His work has been published internationally and has won numerous design awards.

The couple met while working on the design of a law firm's offices in Manhattan.
