Man charged with Wick car arson

POLICE have charged a man with a car arson in Wick.

Thomas Bierne, 20, of Griffin Crescent, Wick, was charged with arson and theft of a motor vehicle following a car fire on the A259, in Wick, during the early hours of Saturday, May 28 following an on-going investigation by Sussex Police.

He has been released on conditional bail to appear at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on Monday, July 4.

A 23-year-old Rustington man was also arrested in connection with the fire and has been bailed until Saturday, July 23, pending further inquiries.

Police investigating a series of vehicle fires in Wick have also arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with more than 20 arsons.

He has been released on conditional bail until Saturday, July 16, pending further inquiries.

He said: “These vehicle fires have caused much distress and cost for the owners of the vehicles that have been targeted.
