Lions club launches Tri-Buddy scheme for triathlon

BEXHILL Lions Triathlon, scheduled for 23rd May 2010, has launched 'Find a Tri Buddy'.

Aimed at those who fancy taking part in a triathlon but don't like the idea of doing all three sports, Bexhill Lions Triathlon, scheduled for 23rd May 2010, now has a relay team option.

Bexhill Lions Club President, Avril Earnshaw said the Tri Buddy scheme gives individuals the chance to participate, in what promises to be an exciting event, as part of a team.

Avril said: "To take part you need a team of three people aged 15 or over to cover the three disciplines; one person will take the 750m sea swim, one will take on the flat 20km road cycle and finally one will complete the 5km promenade run. You will be timed against a continually running clock and at the end of your race will be presented with your overall and split times. Prizes will be given to the team that cross the line in the quickest time."

She added: "If you fancy taking part in the triathlon relay but don't know anyone you can convince to take on the other two sports, then don't worry; just visit our website page for details of where you can 'Find a Tri Buddy', including keen swimmers, cyclists and runners in the area. Alternatively you can leave your details with us; we'll advertise them on our 'Find a Tri Buddy' website page so that other people in a similar position can contact you through us and together you can complete your relay team."

Bexhill Lions Triathlon is a charitable sprint distance triathlon event, inclusive for youths from the age of 13, and where possible for those with special needs. People can take part either individually or as part of a relay team.
