Kent men arrested in connection with Harbour shooting

Two men, a 41-year-old from Ashford and a 28-year-old from Maidstone were arrested last Wednesday in conjunction with Kent Police. They have been released on conditional bail until 11 September.

Mr Adams is recovering in hospital after being shot in the face with an air rifle and is still to learn if he may lose the sight of one eye.

The van was dumped in Kent.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses who may have seen Mr Adam’s white Toyota Hilux, with Environment Agency livery, being towed between Rye and Charing, Kent, late on Saturday night and the early hours of Sunday morning. The van suffered damage to its bumper whilst it was being towed.

Mr Adams, 43, confronted two men who were trying to steal his work van.

Two accomplices, who were in a waiting car, drove at him but he managed to jump out of the way over a low wall. It was then that one pulled out the weapon and shot at him.

He later said: “If I have known there were four of them and they were tooled up I would never have gone out after them.

The recovered van is being forensically examined by police,

DI Hannah Willard said: “This is very fast moving investigation and all possible leads are being followed up. The two arrests yesterday reflect our determination to bring the offenders to justice.”
