i360 '˜fixed' and set to reopen to the public

The i360 will welcome the public back on board today (March 1), after the glass pod was grounded for several days.

The closure came after the pod got stuck on Friday afternoon (February 27), leaving visitors stranded for around an hour.

The i360 ‘potty’ - a pop-up tent and toilet - also made a reappearance on the Brighton seafront attraction, while passengers waited to be released from the ride.

i360 bosses announced on Friday night that the ride would have to close because of a broken cable.

Last night a spokesperson said: “British Airways i360 will re-open on Wednesday, March 1 following successful work to replace a damaged data ribbon. We would like to thank our customers for their patience and look forward to welcoming them back on board.”

The attraction came into trouble in September last year, when it became stuck on two occasions, both times with visitors on board. It closed for several days to fix the ‘technical issue’.

The British Airways i360 opened to the public on August 4 last year.
