Hotham Park is blooming and has flag to prove it

HOTHAM Park in Bognor Regis has again been officially recognised as one of the country's elite open spaces.

The valued and much-loved piece of the countryside in the town centre has claimed its fourth Green Flag in a row.

The standard was hoisted on the park’s flagpole last Wednesday for a further year.

Arun District Council’s park manager, Michael Rowland, joined council staff, contractors and volunteers to celebrate the latest success.

He said: “The park has improved each year from the first Green Flag and will continue to do so in the future.

“Since last year, the bandstand has been extensively refurbished and the Hotham Park Heritage Trust funded the installation of lighting. Planting has matured and new interpretation boards and signage have been installed.”

The Green Flag is the equal of the seaside Blue Flag. Open spaces have to achieve standards for signs, horticultural work and accessibility among others to be accepted.
