Horror assault in Bexhill

A EIGHTEEN year-old youth had to be transferred for specialist hospital treatment in Brighton after being smashed in the face in an incident.

Doctors are trying to save his four front teeth by using splints.

This week Bexhill Neighbourhood Policing Team were working to establish whether the incident was linked with another a few hours earlier in the same area.

Sergeant Trish Reeve-Fowkes appealed via the Observer for anyone who witnessed or who has information about either incident to contact Bexhill police station on 0845 6070999.

She said: "At about 3.45pm on Monday an incident occurred in the street in the Hillside area when a 26 year-old male was assaulted in the face.

"Two people, a male and a female, were arrested. Inquiries are continuing.

"A few hours later at 6.40pm another incident occurred in the Hillside area where an 18 year-old youth was hit in the face with an item, causing him serious facial injuries. His four front teeth have been displaced.

"He was taken to the Conquest Hospital and then transferred to Brighton, where they are trying to save his teeth.

"At present we do not know if the two incidents are linked. Inquiries are continuing."
