The tragedy disrupted train services, with replacement bus services put in place between Hastings and Tunbridge Wells.

A spokesperson for Southeastern said: "It's very unfortunate that it happened, but I'm sure most people can understand we have to go through certain proceedures, including going through the police and we have to make sure our staff are OK as well."

Train services resumed at 8.30am, but Southeastern say further delays should be expected.
