Fundraising picnic to fight Laybrook brickworks waste tip plans

THAKEHAM Village Action has launched a fundraising campaign to help finance the fight against Cory Environmental's plans to dump 4.7 million tonnes of waste at Laybrook brickworks, between Thakeham and Ashington.

A Picnic Concert fundraiser at Knepp Castle takes place on Saturday when all proceeds from an auction, raffle and the 'Laybrook Lucky Drum' will go towards the fight.

So far more than 300 tickets so far and gates open at 3pm. There will be music from the Sirens and the Fragilistics until 4.45pm when MP Francis Maude will speak.

From 5-8.30pm Willie Austen and his band will entertain and there will be an auction and raffle at 6.30pm.
