The 11-strong team completed the 16.5-mile walk in just under six hours.

Yvette Cook, who organised the event, said: “We had quite a range of ages and also participants who were overcoming injuries, but everyone did extreemly well and it was a lovely, relaxed and enjoyable day in beautiful weather. The walk was originally planned for the week before but as the weather on July 26 was so appalling.

“However, a special mention should be made of two ladies, Sue Cottrell and Sandra Dubeau, who decided to complete the walk on the original date, in the attrocious weather conditions, as they were unable to make the following week, raising a large amount of money. I would like to thank everyone who took part to make the day such a success and also everyone who sponsored us. St Michael’s Hospice needs our support even more now at this difficult time and everyone has been so generous.”
