Former Bexhill student missing after cash theft

A former Bexhill student wanted for questioning after money went missing is believed to have caught a ferry to France.

Police have been trying to trace cashier Sara Drage who failed to turn up for work on Monday, when money was discovered missing from the safe.

Sara, 23, missed her shift at the Halifax agency in Eastbourne which is run by Steel and Co.

She is believed to have caught the 6.35am Dover Calais ferry on Monday.

Officers are in contact with Interpol.

Sara is a past student of Bexhill High and Bexhill College. She is believed to have friends and family in the town.

Police say she was in contact by text with her family and friends on Monday night.

She was last seen by her flatmate at 9pm on Sunday, using her computer at home in Seaside Road, Eastbourne.

The following day an undisclosed amount of money was discovered missing from the Halifax agency.

Police said in a statement, "Clearly the two incidents may be connected, however the priority at this stage is to confirm that Sara is safe and well."

Sara is slim and about 5ft 6in tall. She has dark brown shoulder-length hair.

She owns a red Peugeot 306, registration M446 GFB.

Detective Sergeant Dave Tye said, "Sara is asked to contact her family or police to say that she is safe and well."

Gareth Mackie, Halifax press officer, said, "There has been an incident at the branch at some point over the weekend. We are unsure of the timing but it was some time between Friday evening and Monday morning."
