Forest charity needs more friends

For 45 years the Friends of the Ashdown Forest has worked to protect the unspoilt countryside made famous by the Winnie the Pooh novels.

The Ashdown Forest is one of the few remaining areas of lowland heath in Europe and is home to a vast number of animals and plants, from silver-studded blue butterflies to orchids.

The group carry out a year-round programme of conservation, finding funding for equipment, acquiring land and raising public awareness. It is now hoping to recruit more members - ring 01342 823583 or email: [email protected]
