Firefighters tackle deliberate West Wittering field fire

Firefighters were called to a field in West Wittering after four acres of cut hay were set alight.

The fire service said the blaze was started deliberately.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue received reports of the fire at 7.30pm last night (June 30) in a hay field off Elms Lane in West Wittering.

The blaze raged for more than an hour and crews were on the scene from Chichester, Selsey and Bognor Regis.

Crews had made the scene safe by 8.45pm.
