During a meeting with the Little Common Brownies, Town Mayor Mayor Eric Armstrong asked the Brownies if they each had a million pounds, on what would they spend it?

Among all the grandiose schemes, one Brownie said she just wished she could plant an apple tree in Broadoak Park.

Now Sophia Harmer, nine, has got her wish.

The Mayor had spoken to members of the Bexhill in Bloom committee. Six month later, in typical Jim'll Fix It style, the commiittee obtained a Cox's apple tree sponsored by the Gardening Club at ESK Plants, Eastbourne.

Despiite heavy rain, the Brownies had their meeting at Broadoak Park.

Sophia was presented with her tree and invited to plant it, using a ceremonial spade.

The Town Mayor recalled Sophia's wish.

"It just touched my heart," he said.

Sophia's tree is near the approach road to Broadoak Park where it will be seen by visitors to the park.
