OTTERS are coming back in Sussex, says the Sussex Otter and Rivers Project. Don't expect too much.

You may see a chain of bubbles if you're very lucky. You may find a spraint of glinting fish scales.

You may see five-toed footprints in the mud of the Arun banks. But you probably will not see a thing. These animals slide away like oil and can pass a few feet away and nobody is in the wiser.
