Farm Diary by Gwyn Jones

A much quieter week, but not all good news I am afraid. We have identified with our vet, that the Dutch heifers ( or some of them) are suffering from IBR.

This is a nasty disease that causes breathing problems, but much more seriously is an immuno-suppressant leaving the animal open to secondary infection such as pneumonia.

It is transmittable from animal to animal and has affected a few of our own heifers, b ut the herd itself is immune due to our polkicy of vaccination against IBR, BVD and Leptospirosis.
