East Sussex man dies from injuries after fall

A ST LEONARDS man has died from serious head injuries after being found lying in a street in Bexhill in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Thirty-eight year-old James Hall from Warrior Square, St Leonards, died at the Hurstwood Park Hospital in Haywards Heath late on Sunday evening.

Police had initially launched a major investigation into the incident after Mr Hall was found lying in Kings Close, Bexhill at around 12.15am on Sunday. But they have now said there are no suspicious circumstances, as it is believed Mr Hall suffered a fall.

Mr Hall was initially taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and later transferred to the Hurstwood Park Hospital where he died.

Detective Inspector Andy Harbour, from East Sussex CID, said: “Following witness appeals we have now established that James spoke to a woman outside a house and told her that he had had a fall.

“However, it seems as though he was able to walk away and she thought no more of it until seeing the appeal. Sadly, it seems as though James then collapsed in Kings Close where he was found by someone returning home locally.

“From what we have learnt from another witness who has also come forward, we are now satisfied that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding James’s death and the matter has been passed to the coroner’s officer.”
